Inside Bengaluru Airport: Bangalore airport terminal 2 and terminal 1
I visit Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru daily, and this article is based on my daily experiences and observations. I go to Bangalore airport every day for some of my work. Bangalore airport is also referred to as Bengaluru airport. The official name of Bangalore airport is Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (KIAB). In this article, I will tell you all the information about Bangalore Airport, such as the food and beverage facilities inside, lounges, transport facilities, and what Bangalore Airport Terminal 1 and Bangalore Airport Terminal 2 are like. If your flight is in Terminal 1 and you have plenty of time, you can take the airport’s free bus to Terminal 2 and explore.
Bengaluru airport has two terminals in one location: Terminal One and Terminal Two. The distance between the two terminals is approximately 10 minutes’ walking distance. If you walk from Terminal One to Terminal Two, it will take you about ten minutes.
Bangalore Terminal One –
Terminal One is a domestic airport. In Terminal One, the arrival and departure areas are close together. It takes only one minute to walk from the departure area to the arrival area in Terminal One. Terminal One houses flights from companies like IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Alliance Air. Although Terminal One is domestic, you will find a currency exchange center there. There are many restaurants and coffee shops, such as Cafe Coffee Day, Starbucks Coffee, Aubree, Barley & Grape Cafe, Chai Point, GoPizza, Hatti Kaapi, Krispy Kreme, Mitti Cafe, Third Wave Coffee, Subway, Ooru Canteen, etc.
If you want to go to the airport Terminal 1 lounge, you need either a flight ticket or a boarding pass to gain entry. The Hard Rock Lounge is very beautiful. If you want to eat something inexpensive at Airport Terminal 1, there is a small food stall near the KSTDC Stand where you can get the cheapest tea, coffee, and breakfast. Many airport employees eat there. If you are in Terminal One and need to go to Terminal Two, a free airport shuttle bus is available. This bus stops near Terminal One departures.
Since the arrivals and departures in Terminal One are close together, in the same building, if you want to take a cab or a bus to another city, you will find the bus stand and cab stand right in front of Terminal 1 departures. Terminal One is larger in size than Terminal Two. The interior and exterior of Terminal One have a modern design. You will see a Taj group hotel right in front of Terminal One. You can walk to the Taj Hotel from Terminal One in five minutes. If you have a flight and want to pass the time, for example, if your departure flight is at 1 PM, you can stroll around in the arrivals area or in the Terminal One departures area. Terminal One also has good private parking facilities.
Terminal Two –
When you see Terminal Two for the first time, you will feel like you have entered a completely new world. Bangalore Airport Terminal Two is considered the most beautiful airport in the country. The interior and exterior of Bangalore Terminal Two are so well-designed; the front part of the airport is primarily made using bamboo. The design of the new Guwahati airport is similar to that of Bangalore Airport Terminal Two. Bangalore Terminal Two is an international airport. Only two or three domestic airlines operate from here, such as Air India, Air India Express, and Star Airlines.
All other international flights arrive and depart from Terminal 2. Terminal 2 is much more expensive than Terminal One. Currency exchange centers are available at Bangalore Terminal Two. Here you will find restaurants, cafes, and shops from many different countries. There are many dining options and cafes available, such as Costa Coffee, Hard Rock Cafe, Tim Hortons, Starbucks Coffee, Jamie Oliver Pizzeria, Bartiya Jalpan, Chaayos Tea Center, Smoor, Wendy’s Burgers, etc.
If you are in Terminal Two and your flight is in Terminal 1, a free airport bus service is available to take you there. Airport pick-up is located in the basement parking of Terminal Two. Terminal Two has AC bus services (BMTC) from where you can travel to any part of the city by city bus. Terminal Two has many international brand clothing shops, shoe shops, and watch shops. You can also shop here. Although Terminal Two is smaller than Terminal One, it is extremely beautiful. If you come to drop off your relatives, friends, or family members by car, you have to go to the basement for parking.
Transport Facility inside Bangalore airport –
You will find the BMTC bus stands in both Terminal One and Terminal Two. From there, you can travel to any part of the city. The bus fare is much cheaper. For example, if you want to go to any part of the city from the airport, it costs a thousand rupees, whereas going by bus will only cost you around three hundred and fifty rupees. There are many private cab services in Terminal One and Terminal Two, such as Ola and Uber. Ola, Uber, and Rapido cabs are readily available at the airport. Many electric vehicle cabs are also available. Bangalore Airport also has two-wheeler parking facilities. You can also park your private car there.
Hotels near Bangalore airport – Before the toll plaza leading to Bangalore Airport, you will find many hotels for accommodation. There are lemon tree hotel,udapi hotel, clarks inn, Taj hotel, and bloom hotel. And there are also many hotels and cafes for food. Passengers traveling from the city to the airport often have breakfast or lunch there before entering the airport. If you want a luxury hotel, then you can go to Taj Bangalore(airport).
How to go to Bengaluru airport– You have multiple choices to go to the airport, like: 1. BMTC Vayu Vajra (AC Bus) 2. Cab. If you want to go to the airport from Bangalore Central City, it can take you one and a half to two hours for a distance of approximately 30 to 40 km. There is an airport road from Whitefield, from where you can reach the airport in less time. The distance between Electronic City and the airport is quite long, and it usually takes at least two hours to travel from Electronic City to the airport or vice versa. However, you can easily find cabs and airport buses from any part of the city to the airport.
Important Information about Bangalore Airport – Terminal One is always more crowded than Terminal Two because it is the domestic airport. Terminal One is very crowded in the early morning and between 6 and 7 PM. If you have a flight, you need to reach the terminal early. Wheelchair facilities are available for disabled persons at both terminals. If you are traveling to the airport from any part of the city, the first thing you need to ensure is that you reach the airport on time. Due to Bangalore’s traffic, many people miss their flights every day. For example, if your flight is at 5 PM, you should reach the airport by 2 or 3 PM. The airport highway can get jammed at any time, so you should leave for the airport as early as possible. You should have at least two hours of buffer time for your journey to the airport.
